The Macaw Heist and Its Bold Buyers

The Amazon Rainforest hosts over 1,300 kinds of unique amalgamations of dazzling birds of a feather 1. In the 1970s the Huaorani people scour as they peer over the tree branch “They have eggs. We have to wait till the babies are bigger - Someone else will take these birds, I know the river” 2. Thus inaugurating traditional methods upheld in the amazon today beginning and bringing us to thrilling macaw heists of Brazil. Illegal, wild, and colorful; chronicles the exploitation and breach of verdancy among macaws in exchange for artificially verdant bills in their pockets. Seemingly, heists and greed often abstain from interference with scientific investigation; not here. The neglected value of the macaw’s in the amazon’s radiancy proposes more than an environmental issue, but to rotate the spotlight onto its agitators, the buyers.

Aesthetically appeased owners with an everlonging urge for purpose being asymmetrically put out on endangered exotic animals. Strangely, the consumers of this heist, the indulger, the owner, and the incentive; is our own heads. In the very architecture of our own amazon, our brains. A part of us desires something novel, distinctive, and distinguished, in regarding our fleeting pursuit of a happiness heist of our own 3. The worst part is, these macaws get thrown out, expired, and put away in the back of an attic as casually as our outdated ipods.

Macaws are labeled as our chosen personal domesticated companions due to their striking appearance and bold aura coveted by top  pyramid members of elite artistic industries such as the fashion and collectors industry as a symbol to their status and own character. For the average member of the modern standard gratification-deprived population it serves as a companion outside our handheld man-made devices. Equivalent to natural converser macaws have the ability to mimic human speech becoming our unfit friend who always never seems to get where they want to be, in this case, where they should be.

In this ongoing heist of epic proportions we serve as the incentives for more thieving. As we reflect on our deeply flawed modern societal structures regarding the advancement and prevalent of technology, we must consider the modern illusions that come with making “bold” financial decisions.

Buying a macaw is a bold choice that puts your own name in bold, when the time for pointing fingers comes around. Feeding into an insatiable greed in the pursuit of happiness turned to the pursuit of prestige allows a thread to be connected with you when the time comes that macaws meet their undeserving, unfortunate demise.

Macaw numbers are dwindling due to understably high demands in a society deprived of person to person gratification and yet the question still stands when making any financial choice,

Is what I get going to fix the problem?

When the problem is insecurity, no. We cannot become a self-destructive species due to emotional consciousness, rather we should be forces of protection simular the force of banks protecting the wealth within. From green dollars to green feathers, it's up to us to secure the bag. For future admiration and prosperity, we need to take our problems to others, and not our money to the exotic pet markets.
